Masaai Women Empowerment

Empowerment is Limitless

Image

The ancient Masaai tribe are well known for their traditional medicines including roots and bark from trees. However, due to drought and therefore the loss of herds and pastureland, many Masaai have moved to the urban centers. It is common to see Masaai Women sitting on roadsides with a small table where they display their medicines and crafts, trying to earn a living.

African Reflections Foundation(ARF) initiated a group of Masaai women (Ushanga Crafts Women) to create high quality beaded necklaces by making the funds available for the crafters to work regularly for African Reflections Foundation. The women produce many beautiful products including bracelets, anklets, and authentic Masaai sets worn around the necks of Masaai women.
