Sajida Volunteer Work
Click Image for Photo JourneySajida Mamdani, Co founder African Reflections who voluntarily runs the African Reflections Store at the Empire State Plaza, in Albany New York, finds it an honor to exhibit the beautiful products, which is exported from East Africa.

Sajida takes part in major Shows and Meetings held mostly at the Empire State Plaza each year, just to name a few: The Puerto Rican and Black Caucus, the Hispanic Caucus, Black History month. She also sets up tables twice a week on the South Concourse during the months of January to June, when it is the Legislative meetings season. In addition, from September to December, the holiday seasons.

She usually is on the Concourse on Wednesdays and Thursdays all year round.

Sajida takes pride in her role as she sells the products on behalf of the East African artists and artisans.

Proceeds from sale of the products is then passed on the African Reflections Foundation for the different programs which include building of wells, the bucket kits irrigation system, school desks program and many more.

The African Reflections stores were initiated with the idea to raise funds for the different project, govern by African Reflections Foundation.

Sajida daughter of a Philantropist Mustafa Jaffer states: “I want to follow the footsteps of my father. I will never forget my roots as I am African.”

She was born in Zanzibar and moved to the USA 30 years ago. Married with four beautiful daughters has lived in Albany for 27 years.

Sajida has been working hard to raise funds for all our projects. She thanks the management of OGS of the Empire State Plaza for their support over the years.
