Empowering those who can empower others

A group of 22 enterprising women on the Island of Zanzibar mobilized to begin the entrepreneurial initiative of making and selling natural handmade soaps. Zanzibar is an island rich in natural spices which are being used in soaps for the first time.
A group of 22 enterprising women on the Island of Zanzibar mobilized to begin the entrepreneurial initiative of selling natural handmade soaps. Zanzibar is an island rich in natural spices which are being used in soaps for the first time.
African Reflections Foundation (ARF) purchases these soaps at fair trade prices and markets them in North America on behalf of the women. This creates a consistent income and access to the international marketplace which was otherwise unavailable to these women. With the profits from the soap making, they can feed their families and finally send their children to school.
African Reflections Foundation assists women in providing necessary resources to insure safe, healthy development of this industry. This includes safety equipment for the women, basic factory equipment for the manual production, and other required supplies.
