Helping them learn how to help themselves

Groups of rural women hailing from Zanzibar Island have been farming seaweed for many years. They receive less than 50 US cents a day. Some women have been farming the seaweed for the last 12 years.
The women are often exploited by merchants and traders from overseas and are unaware of their condition and plight.
African Reflections Foundation is working to connect these women with experts to help them help themselves. By receiving training and education, these women should be able to market their products for export, avoid illegal or unfair trade practices and start using their industry to provide for themselves and their families.
