Empowering Rural Communities through Rosella Farming.

Revolutionizing Agriculture in Mkuranga: ARF's Rosella Farming Project

In the heart of Mkuranga, Tanzania, a transformative initiative will unfold as the African Reflections Foundation (ARF) gears up for its “Empowering Rural Communities through Rosella Farming” project. As we approach the closing days of December 2024, the project is set to take root by distributing Rosella seedlings, marking the beginning of a new era for the community.

At the core of this endeavor lies the Rosella plant (Hibiscus sabdariffa), a resilient herbaceous shrub with a rich global history. With its origins in West Africa, Rosella has found its way to various parts of the world, including Tanzania. Thriving in diverse climates, Rosella is recognized for its adaptability and low environmental impact.

The Rosella Revolution encompasses comprehensive training for farmers, establishing Rosella farms, and workshops on value-addition techniques. ARF aims to increase income and livelihoods and promote sustainable agricultural practices for long-term food security and environmental sustainability.

Increasing income for rural communities.

Established in 2005, ARF stands as a beacon of change, dedicated to improving the quality of life in underprivileged communities through sustainable development initiatives. The Rosella Farming project is a testament to ARF’s commitment to addressing health and socio-economic challenges prevalent in rural Tanzania.

Heralding a Greener, Sustainable Tomorrow for Rural Communities.

The project's focus is on developing the Rosella Outgrower Scheme (ROS) over 60 months. It considers ongoing activities, a value chain approach, and targets marginalized small producers and businesses.

As we embark on this agricultural journey, ARF invites stakeholders and the community to witness the synergy of technology and agriculture, fostering a future where Rosella farming becomes synonymous with prosperity in Mkuranga. The Rosella Revolution is here, heralding a greener, more sustainable tomorrow for rural communities.
