African Reflections Foundation (ARF). Established in 2005, ARF is a registered Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) based in Tanzania.
The seeds of ARF were sown by Hon. Maryvonne Pool, the Honorary Consul of Seychelles to Tanzania, a dedicated change-maker with a profound commitment to serving those in need. Hon. Maryvonne was deeply moved by the health and socio-economic challenges afflicting sub-populations in Tanzania, particularly those residing in rural areas.
As ARF continues to evolve and grow, its mission has expanded to envision a world where every individual has access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities, leading to thriving and resilient communities. Our core mission is to create sustainable development initiatives, ensure the well-being of underprivileged communities, promote healthy and well-fed populations, and empower individuals to attain financial independence and self-sufficiency.

Maryvonne Pool, a philanthropist, businesswoman, and the Honorary Consul of the Republic of Seychelles in the United Republic of Tanzania, has always been driven by a deep desire to create a lasting positive impact in the rural communities of Tanzania. Her passion for helping people began at a young age, instilled by her father’s example of selflessness, empathy, and boundless love. This foundational experience led her to strive for reaching out to others and putting her dreams into action.
In 1985, Maryvonne made a life-altering decision to move to Africa and start a business with the primary goal of aiding others. Shortly after her arrival in Tanzania, she learned about a devastating drought in the Mkuranga District, which prompted her to drive all the way to the Mwarusembe Village. It was during this visit that she encountered a young woman named Maua who was drawing water from a dilapidated well, the sole water source for the entire village, located two kilometers away from her home. Deeply moved by Maua’s story, Maryvonne decided to offer assistance in repairing the well, a gesture that filled Maua with hope and gratitude. This encounter marked the beginning of her journey to make a difference in the lives of the people in this rural part of Tanzania.
As a result, the African Reflections Foundation was born, inspired by Maryvonne’s commitment to bringing water and restoring hope to villages in need. Over the years, the organization has achieved remarkable milestones:100+ solar-powered and shallow water wells built, benefiting numerous schools and villages, including Mdimuni Dispensary, Nyatanga Dispensary, Tengelea Secondary School, and many others.
Impacting over 1000+ women and youth through various projects, such as out growers, Blue Green initiatives, and working with youth on various community improvement efforts. Maryvonne Pool’s dedication to serving others has led to the creation of the African Reflections Foundation, an organization committed to transforming lives and communities across Tanzania. Her story is a testament to the power of empathy and determination in making a lasting positive impact..
